As a Mentor with Phamily Family, you’ll play a meaningful role in supporting participants to grow, connect, and thrive in their everyday lives. You’re not just a support person — you’re a positive role model, a trusted guide, and a consistent presence in someone’s journey toward independence and wellbeing.
Your role will include:

Help participants develop confidence in communicating, forming friendships, and engaging in social settings.
🧘 Supporting emotional regulation
Guide participants in recognising their emotions, managing stress, and building healthy, positive coping strategies.
🏠 Promoting independent living skills
Support participants in developing everyday life skills — from cooking and personal care to planning, organisation, and goal-setting.
🌏 Encouraging community inclusion
Empower participants to feel a sense of belonging by accessing local events, programs, and social opportunities. Help them build connections and participate in the community in a way that feels safe and meaningful to them.
💪 Uplifting and empowering
Be a steady, supportive presence. Celebrate progress, encourage self-belief, and walk alongside participants as they build the life they want.
Domestic Assistant
As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in helping participants maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment. Your support allows them to live more independently and focus on what matters most to them — whether that’s building skills, connecting with others, or simply enjoying daily life.
Your role will include:
🧹 Household tasks and cleaning
Assist with general cleaning duties such as vacuuming, mopping, dusting, dishwashing, and keeping living spaces tidy and hygienic.
🧺 Laundry and linen care
Support participants with washing, drying, folding clothes, and changing bed linen as needed.
🍽️ Light meal preparation
Help with basic food prep or cooking, ensuring meals are safe, nutritious, and suited to participants' needs and preferences.
🗂️ Helping create an organised home
Assist in setting up routines, organising household items, and creating a space that supports comfort and independence.
💬 Friendly, respectful companionship
Build positive relationships through everyday interaction — always respecting personal space, privacy, and individual preferences.
Support Assistant
As a Support Worker, you’ll be a hands-on, heart-led part of someone’s everyday life — offering practical assistance and emotional encouragement to help them live safely, confidently, and independently. Your role is all about meeting people where they’re at and supporting them to achieve their personal goals in their own unique way.
Your role will include:
🧍♂️ Personal care and daily living support
Assist with day-to-day tasks such as showering, dressing, toileting, mobility, and meal preparation — always delivered with dignity and respect.
🛍️ Household tasks and organisation
Help maintain a clean, safe home environment through basic domestic duties like cleaning, laundry, and tidying shared spaces.
🚗 Transport and community access
Support participants in getting to appointments, community programs, social activities, or even just running errands — helping them feel connected and confident in the world around them.
🧠 Supporting independence and life skills
Encourage participants to build skills like budgeting, cooking, time management, and using public transport, with the aim of growing their confidence and self-reliance.
🫶 Being a trusted, empowering presence
Create strong, respectful relationships built on empathy, consistency, and care — always championing the participant's voice, choice, and control.
Requirements for Roles

✅ A current driver's licence and reliable transport
You'll often support participants in accessing their community, so transport is essential.✅ NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
A requirement to work in NDIS-funded roles to ensure participant safety.✅ Working With Children Check (if applicable)
Depending on the participant’s age, this may be required.✅ First Aid & CPR (or willingness to complete before starting)
Important for participant safety and part of being a responsible support worker.✅ Flexibility and reliability
Participants rely on consistency. We value people who show up, follow through, and can adapt when needed.
✅ Completion of all NDIS Worker Orientation eLearning Modules
These modules ensure you understand the principles and expectations of working in NDIS-funded services. -
✅ A kind and respectful attitude
You’ll be working in someone’s home — we value compassion, dignity, and professionalism above all.✅ Basic knowledge of household tasks
Experience with cleaning, laundry, and meal prep — either professionally or personally — is important.✅ Good time management and attention to detail
You’ll often work independently, so being organised and thorough is a big plus.✅ Clear communication skills
You’ll need to communicate clearly and respectfully with participants, families, and our team.✅ A current driver’s licence and reliable transport
Some shifts may require travel to different homes or helping participants with errands.✅ NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
This is a requirement to work in NDIS-funded roles.✅ Working With Children Check (if applicable)
If you’ll be working with younger participants, this may be required.✅ Basic First Aid & CPR (or willingness to complete)

✅ Recent, relevant experience as a Direct Support Worker
Experience in disability, aged care, or community support is highly valued.✅ Certificate III in Disability, Aged Care, or Individual Support
Formal qualifications help ensure you're prepared for the hands-on and person-centred nature of the role.✅ Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
To ensure you're equipped to respond safely in case of an emergency.✅ Valid Australian Driver’s Licence
Essential for travel between participants and community access support.✅ Reliable vehicle with comprehensive car insurance
You may be required to transport participants, so safe, insured transport is a must.✅ Full COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
Required under current health guidelines for working in close contact environments.✅ Completion of all NDIS Worker Orientation eLearning Modules
These modules ensure you understand the principles and expectations of working in NDIS-funded services.✅ Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (South Australia)
Mandatory for all roles under the NDIS. If you don’t have this yet, we can guide you through the application process.✅ Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Required if you'll be working with children or young participants.✅ National Police Check (within the last 12 months)
